Nolen - Thanks.  Some of the links are new to me.  Lots of interesting material to read - Louis

Louis,

Here are some other "coal" mining links I've come across.  Some don't have a lot of pictures, but are interesting reading.  You may have already come across some of them.  One of the interesting things I noticed about coal mines in general is that a lot of them were served by more than one railroad.

All - Came across this fascinating link while doing some Internet research on Burlington-served mines in the Illinois coal fields:

Just about everything you'd ever want to know about the history of coal mining in Illinois, plus many illustrations that should be of interest to modelers.

A number of mine photographs show Q gons and hoppers being loaded. Well worth the time to read. Best Regards - Louis
