The KD Line of the Chicago & North Western
by William Shapotkin
In pioneer railroading days, various investor groups were trying to predict
which city on Lake Michigan would be the great lakeport. Would it be Milwaukee?
Racine? Michigan City? Of course, it turned out to be Chicago.
The KD line served Kenosha and Rockford. It was built by groups trying to make
Kenosha the great lake port. It was, nevertheless, a fascinating line, well
worth the journey we'll take.
Note:
The previously announced program, Railroads in the Civil War by Jack Barriger,
will be rescheduled for spring 2020.
