These small sheds were loaded through the roof hatches by shoveling coal from a gondola. Some sheds had side hatches instead of roof hatches. The process was coal in trackside through the hatches, and coal out
on the other side of the shed through grade level doors.

Subject: [CBQ] CB&Q Coal Sheds
Hi All,
Attached are three images of the coal sheds at the Eola towers. Would someone please instruct me as to what the hatch on the roof is? Also, does anyone have good photos of other location’s sheds of a similar design that shows the tall
side better? Last, but definitely not least, are there standard plans for these?
