Aaron: You are correct.  The major cross bearing pieces should line up with the door posts. The smaller ones, usually an "I" or Channel cross-section, attached to the side sill where the angled "Z" braces and vertical braces meet.  The problem,
which you have illustrated, is that the offset doors on the Q double door and one and one-half door cars do not line up with the generic under frame of the kit.  By matching the under frame braces to the Truss-arrangement supporting the sides, the Burlington achieved structural integrity that allowed these home-built cars to have extraordinary service lives.  Jim Sandriin

What is the proper cross tie and cross bearer arrangement on a XA-11A. They should line up with the rivets on the side sill. Thank you for any assistance.
