I've heard (not tried) that clear nail polish on the inside of the skirts may insulate enough to stop the shorts.  I'd be interested to know if that works as well as we have multiple brass "E" units that have yet to hit the rails.

I have a Challenger Imports E-5 that caused me fits with short circuits, and this is on 33" and 36" radius curves!  Its the truck skirts that seem to be the problem, and after a lot of fiddling with it, bending the ends of the skirts slightly so as not to make contact with the body normally eliminated the shorts (except when handling of the locomotive and inadvertently causing the skirts to move slightly).
