Mineral red was the specified color. But it weathered differently in different climates, especially in humidity vs. dry conditions.

What color was specified for the NE-5 or NE-6 waycars and 3900 Series Drovers cars during the 1950s and early 1960s? Randy Daniels seminal treatise contains photos where the colors range from brown to Mineral Red. My personal recollection is that the
waycars were almost a light chocolate brown.
