Dave -

Eastbound on main #2 at Hinsdale crossing Washington St. and east of Garfied Ave.; Chestnut St. on the north side of main #1 (to right of train).  I believe the south platform at Hinsdale was the only one "notched" on the east end.  I'd say it was 1940 when the E5's were brand new (not enough "dings" on the nose of the lead unit to be much more recently).  Note no illuminated headlight for daylight operation "screaming" on the East End (headlight rule changed late 1940's).  Only main #2 signaled in both directions.  Leo should have stayed with his "first thought".  Lots of changes with signal locations since this photo was taken.
