On page 10 of the Library documents there is a poster for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad - St Louis, St Paul &Omaha Express. At the bottom of the flyer the railroad offers meals for “only 75 cents.”  The date on the post is “1876?”  Assuming that the date is correct, I went to an inflation calculator, at https://westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi  and found that 75 cents in 1876 is the equivalent of $17.53 today.  That’s a lot, I think.
