Scott,

The first Dash 9-44CW was produced in 1993. Dash-9 indicates the decade GE introduced the model (just like their Dash-8s were introduced in the 1980s and Dash-7s in the mid 1970s). They were still in the U boat era during the Q's existence. So it's fantasy unit.

Yesterday, we received an email from Factory Direct Trains.  They are taking advance orders for a Athearn CB&Q Dash 9-44CW locomotives that are due out in December.  They have three road numbers listed (3906, 3907 and 3908).  In looking through the locomotive roster on the BRHS website, I didn't see any of these listed.  Is this a locomotive that was actually used by the "Q" or a dream locomotive that they wish they had back in the 60s?  From what I can find, this model came out in the early 90s - just a little late for the "Q".
