My good and sorely missed friend Joe Douda told me he was in the upper deck of a gallery car being pulled by steam inbound at the curve around Western Avenue Yard and it was going so fast he thought the car was going to tip over!!!

BTW, we should learn to use the term “East End” instead of “Racetrack” because that is what it was known as by employees of the Burlington.    If you want to go back earlier “Chicago Branch” is also correct!
