As the motor turns, most likely the motor is connected to the gear box via rubber tubing that has deteriorated. Rubber tubing was a commonly used for such connections, but relies on friction fit. If the tubing has stretched, dried out or lost its grip, the motor will spin. Replace the rubber tubing or put in a NWSL universal joint. http://shop.osorail.com/category.sc?categoryId=42
