Pat - I'd like to see that post. It appeared well before I joined the
Group.
I think Lines East and West Helper Districts would be a good
subject to cover in the BRHS Bulletin or Zephyr. The only steam
helper images I've ever seen are with the helper on the head end. I wonder if
this was standard Q practice, or if steam "pushers" could be found on some
districts?
I'm inserting and attaching an image of Class O-3 No. 5304 on the
head end helping an unidentified Class O-5-A approaching West Burlington
Hill in 1949:
Going back to Lines West, one of the routes out of Lincoln required a
helper up out of the yard and Class B 4-8-2 types were used into the early
1950s. I vaguely recall this was the last use of 4-8-2's system wide.
