A great speaker 4/The Meet would be the past city man-ager who is retired
and run- ning a bee farm.
Shall get his name and phone
number. He has a very interezt-
ing story as 2/how and why
the intermodal ramp came 2/Roch-elle. Further, has an interesting story about
he first selected & then deselected the first short line operator 4/The
City of Ro- chelle Railway. Than there is the story about how the RR's Park on
the west side of town came into being.
Plz give me a couple of weeks
2/complete the task.

To the leadership of the BRHS, I am offering my services to
assist with the CB&Q meet at Rochelle in October.
I just wrapped up my duties as chairperson for the CNWHS annual
meet that took place in Rockford last weekend. I'm available to
discuss ideas that worked (and didn't work) for the CNWHS meet. I
can:
- Offer a presentation on the history of the Rockford/Rochelle area
railroads
- Share how to hold a cookout at Rochelle Railroad Park
- Provide vendor contacts for filling tables at a swap meet and swap
meet do's and don'ts
- Can provide detailed info on how to arrange and conduct a bus tour
of the Rockford and Rochelle railroad sites (past and present) - if that
is something the membership is interested in trying. BTW the CNWHS
bus trip was viewed by many as the best they had ever ridden.
- Provide non-rail ("ladies e vent") program ideas and contacts
including the contact info of the couple who coordinate this for the
CNWHS meet.
- I'm also the coordinator for the RockRail (Rockford area) model
railroad operating group and am also a member of the 'Switchlist'
operating group, so I can provide contacts can help arrange layout
visits and even operating sessions for the meet weekend.
Meet organizers can contact me off
list at rwoods613 at gmail dot com.
