Tower 38 was located on the West side of Aurora if you look on a Google map it was where Middle Ave has a group of piles of dirt at now. It was the split of the then double track main line thru town with the C&I main and Main Lines and also the Alley up Middle Ave. Due to the little engines and trains growing bigger this was the east end of the helper grade out of the Fox River Valley. Helpers need from Aurora to both Montgomery and or Sugar Grove until the elevation work eliminated this. After the elevation was put in service the tower was moved to south, on River St and was located on the over pass there or just to the east of the overpass. The only photo found of the new location was a microfilm newspaper file photo. It has lost the neat decorative roof by then. The elevation work was slowed and stopped by the USRA-WWI era until finished after this period. When the elevation was finished there was three switch tenders at the west end of the depot to allow the traffic to be sorted out these jobs were eliminated with the building of Aurora Tower and the interlocking installation.
