I saw a photo of a CB&Q E8 that was post-BN merger (but still in stainless steel/silver) that had what looked like an air filter or fuel filter on the right side underbody, behind the front truck and ahead of the fuel tank, and to the right of the front air tank. The unit number was BN 9976. I don't recall seeing this detail on any pre-merger units. Was this something that was added to the underbody after 1970?
