Several decades ago, a friend & I made a trip across Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas to photograph depots of the CB&Q, AT&SF, CRI&P etc. While we were following Rock Island's "Golden State" main line, we stopped to take photos of the Rock's depot at Paxico,KS, and were soon greeted by several townspeople whom were surprised to find visitors from Wisconsin in their town. "Ain't anybody from that far away been in Paxico" one said. Anyway they then showed us the water marks on a building from "the flood of 1952" that must have affected that part of the Rock Island as well.
