The Irish Mail was a local covering the West Batavia line. To learn all things about the Irish Mail, the probable name origins and the many interesting industries on the line go the Burlington Route.org and secure a copy of Bulletin 51 which covers this subject and many other things about the Burlington in Aurora.

From The Cgo area, however,
having worked w/all its RR's never heard of The Irish Mafia or The Irish Mail.

Could someone explain these

The old wood one at Woodlawn and Benton. The linc  takes you to a nice picture and there's even a box car at the freight dock !

You know I don't remember the trailer. But I sure remember the move around the wye after BN took over serving Georgia Pacific, if a box car needed to be turned to unload.
Sometimes it was done on the turntable at Eola and sometimes the Irish Mail would make the maneuver.

These are some excellent photos of the railroad from Louis' collection, which mainly focus on the 60's and 70's time frame.

I've looked thru all 3 of my "J" books. Looked under every query I can think of on google
For a picture of the "J" depot at Aurora,IL.
Yes, I know it's offmsubject, but it's actually for my upcoming Burlington in Aurora presentation in March.

I'm thinking if any group has the photo it's this one.

Can any body help ? If so please send me the photo off list.

Thanks,

Leo Phillipp
