Hello 2/Fellow Q's - Does anyone know the over all height of its GP-30's including w/the air horns. On the former NYC we had 2/restrict their use on the eastern lines, viz., Bay View which is on the west side of Buffalo, NY, due to the place- ment of the locomotive's air horn. Everytime (twice) we tried running them into this district the air horns keep get-ting knocked off due 2/a clearence issue. Which part of the Q's GP-30's extremenaties were the high-est, the antenna or the air horns? This clearence issue was the primary reason why the diesel shop @ Elkhart, IN immediately turned them back 2/the Q on train symbol NYQ. Further, there was the challenge of excessive wheel slipage while in train service. This is why The CENTRAL generally ran them in groups of 3/4 on light tonnage trains which required high speed operations. Only had wish 4/these locos was 2/have The NYC 2/open their pocket books and adopt-ed the Lightening Strip paint scheme. Image, Chinese Red & two-tone Lighting Strip run- ning together acrossed The Praires of Mid-America - WOW! Ur considerations shall be of mutual value. Fyi, Pat, aka Indiana Jones
