Ok, let me modify my question. Did the Empire Builder pick up any mail between Chicago and St. Paul? I will be using this in my 1958-59 era EB. I didn't realize they could be moved around. I've moved them on other RPOs and they were fairly heavy, so I didn't figure they were moved around. Thanks! Bryan J. The hooks and bars were removable and inter-changeable as far as which door they were put on by the mail clerks on board. They also were attached differently depending
on which way the car was facing. There was no need to have 4 mail hooks attached when only one would do the job. Also depending on the run being made, not all RPO cars picked up mail on the fly, so there wouldn't be any hooks out at all.
