Hi Pete and list,

Just got my copies of the book for my shop.

The photography is generally not from a railfans point of view, so interesting things show up in the photos.  there are many people photos, but also train and depot photos.  The second photographer is Russell Lee.  I felt the photo reproduction and/or paper type made the photos appear to be murky.  I will have open copies at the Wheaton train show on Sunday for anyone wanting to look at the book before purchasing.

As a contributor of information and some photo captions I can tell you that it's strictly a "picture book"..It depicts life and operation and travel on the CB&Q "back in the day"..hence it was "right up my alley"...

It's primarily..mostly a complilation of  photos taken by a woman whose last name is Bubbly..or something like that and a man in 1948.  These photos make up most of the ones used in "Granger Country"and were used by permission of the Golyer Library.

I love it because it depicts the railroad as I knew it.  It may not appeal to some of you "millenials"..or even baby boomers..But those of you 60 and up will love it as well.  It would or should be of historical interest to the younger folks who have heard us "old heads" tell the same old stories again and again...This books shows you how it was.

Lots of steam...early diesels..head end business..motorcars.  Passenger crews dress as real railroad men carrying out their duties.

.The book is a joint effort by Jim Reisdorff's South Platte Press and another publisher whose name escapes me now..I have a copy of the book, but for some reason I cant get my hands on it right now...  As I heard someone say long ago..."It's not lost...I just don't know where it is"

Get it..South Platte has it...You'll love it

Pete
