Six seats are available to the public for a trip on the Vista Dome Lounge-Dining Car "Silver Splendor". This car was Built by the Budd Company in 1956 as Chicago, Burlington & Quincy No. 4735, the "Silver Buckle". The cost is $135.00.
The PSR Convention has six seats left for a chartered trip to Santa Barbara and back. You do not have to be an NMRA member or even registered for the Convention to take advantage of this offer.
The trip departs Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal at 7:35 am on Friday, September 23.
Guests will enjoy a hot buffet breakfast and once in Santa Barbara can take a no host wine tasting tour. Or just visit and take in the local sites. The “Silver Splendor” will leave Santa Barbara at 4:00 pm and dinner will be served on the southbound journey. On this trip you will enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean and Ventura countryside, returning to LAUPT at 7:15 pm.
The tour bus is scheduled to leave the Convention Hotel at 6:00 A.M. for Union Station with arrival at around 7:00 A.M. for check-in prior to boarding. The train is scheduled to depart at 7:35 A.M. The Silver Splendor will be attached to Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Train No. 761.
People will need to preregister and pay on the Convention Website
( http://www.psrconvention.org/lajunction/registration.html ) so that Convention staff can prepare Convention Badges and Tickets for you in advance.
Tickets will be available at the Convention Hotel for pickup or you can contact Registrar James Keena and provide James with a note with your registration that you want to receive the tickets at the 7:00 A.M. check-in location near the Silver Splendor prior to boarding at Union Station.
