Looks like Council Bluffs to me in both the "coming and going" images...This would be just north I 80 and just west of where I 80 and I 29 separate. This wold be on the line heading south to P Junc and points south...Of course "pre interstate and development in the area Engines are headed south if my assessment is correct. Pete

Group - Some time ago, there were a series of posts covering the different
kinds of headlights used by the Q and C&S. Generally speaking with the Q, it
appears that as the winged Pyle National headlights replaced the cuckoo
clock style lights on locomotives, the cuckoo clock lights either stayed on or
were recycled to the tenders for use as back-up lights. We've all seen many
images of post-Depression Q steam power with Pyle National headlights and cuckoo
clock back-up lights.
The cuckoo clock back-up lights seemed to stay in use until they
rusted out and were no longer serviceable, then Pyle National lights replaced
them, too. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised when I came across
the two following undated images taken of Class O-1-A No. 5130
equipped with a Pyle National headlight and an old style box back-up
light that predates the cuckoo clock light. Both images were together, so I will
have to assume they were taken by the same photographer in the same time
period:
Neither image is identified as to location, but 5130 spent many years on
Lines West, so may be the upper image with the huge grain elevators in the
background was taken at either Council Bluffs or Omaha. Can anyone in
the Group better identify these two old images? I've attached both images,
too, for those who have trouble seeing inserted images. Best Regards -
Louis
