Pete and Group - As fast as time flies, it's still a little hard to believe that 55 years ago this month Class S-4 Hudson No. 3006 was cleaned-up, painted and donated to the City of Galesburg as a Christmas Present by then President Harry C. Murphy:

Mr. Murphy's BIG Christmas Present to Galesburg saved 3006 from being sold for scrap to Northwestern Steel & Wire in Sterling, IL, as was the fate of most of her sister steam locomotives stored unserviceable in the Galesburg Dead Line.

In the intervening 55 years, Mr. Murphy and his generation have all passed away, the Q is now a part of the BNSF and steam-powered passenger trains are all but forgotten. But, we still have 3006 to remind us of how things once were.....

Does any one have a recent image of 3006, preferably decked out in Christmas Lights, to share with our Group? Happy Holidays - Louis
