MI stands for Missouri-Illinois, a Missouri Pacific subsidiary which interchanged with the Q at Centralia.   If I remember correctly in BN days it is was several blocks south of the yard office.

In particular, one of the wheel reports I have references 1787 (Dayton's Bluff Yard?) for interchange with the GN, NP, and MTFR. It references 3820 for interchange with the MI (MILW?). A492 and B096 for interchange with the UP.
