Karl - Our Dads certainly would've known each other as Q officials. I well
remember the Choo-Choo Specials. That's a good subject for a future article in
the BRHS Bulletin. So the front mount bell off Class M-4-A No. 6324 ended-up
with your Dad while the winged Pyle National headlight with its heavy smoke box
mounting bracket ended-up with my Dad. Small world it is.... Did you pick-up
the bell at Eola? That's where Dad and I took possession of the headlight.
Plus, with your bell, is the road number deeply cut into the top to identify it
during shoppings? I also have front mount bells off Class O-5-A locomotives
5615 and 5624 and their road numbers are cut deeply into the bell tops. Both my
bells are blocked-up on the carpet in my den and they will ring, but they're
really LOUD like your's in the backyard. It would be nice if someday your bell
and my headlight could be reunited. Wonder what happened to the whistle? I'm
attaching a color image of 6324 taken on May 16, 1955 in Centralia, IL, near
the end of its service life. You can clearly see your bell and my headlight on
the locomotive. May be the Mars light ended-up on an ex-GTW 0-8-0 at NWS&W.
Thanks for reaching out to me. Best Regards - Louis

Hi Luis
Just found this page. My Dad was with Burlington from 45-66. Ended his career
as gen passenger manager. He was also over the choo-choo steam excursions
with the last two units. You know the ones. Anyway, he wound up with the
engine bell from the 6324 which we had in our backyard when I was a kid and
is mounted in my backyard for my kids today. I noticed that you had a few
parts from the 6324 as well. Neither of us would probably ever want to part
with these jems but it sure would've been cool if they were in the same place
again. Anyway nice to know those parts are still out there.
