I have been meaning to ask these two questions. 1. Does anyone have any information on a munitions wreck just east of the York depot in the early fifties. Several box cars of munitions derailed and we lived two blocks away. My mom went to the mom and pop grocery story and the owner asked her if she knew how close we had come to Korea. I have some pictures in this mess I call home. 2. In the late 1940's there was a flood on the Republican river that caused the UP main line to be out of service between Omaha and west. UP trains were diverted from Lincoln to Grand Island over the Alliance Div which ran through our back yard. I remember watching many trains headed west to GI.
