Since I didn't intend to discuss so I'd rather wait for general announcement.

Leo,

You make reference to an upcoming book by Richard Kistler.  I don't recall hearing of this book.  Can you give us more details (or assuming Richard is on this list, maybe Richard can elaborate).

Thanks,

Scott Myers

Thanks Doug,

Yes,quite often and several people have made the same suggestion in recent years. I have talked to two publishers in a general way.

A couple years ago I did offer to write a book on the Aurora Division for the BRHS and the board
Turned it down because they felt it wouldn't sell well.

I helped Richard Kistler a little bit, with his upcoming book on the east end.

I do hope this bulletin sells out from non member sales as the BRHS can then use the money to increase the size and frequency of publications. There were about 10-15 more pages of visuals that were left off this bulletin due to the board restricting page count to reduce printing and mailing costs. I was told the board even voted to pull money from savings to get this one out in a timely manner, rather than wait for enough dues to come in.

When you bump into friends or old co workers tell them to go to the website and buy the issue and join.

Leo,

Great work. Ever thought about a book about the Aurora Division?

You took me back...to my childhood along north Woodlawn going toward downtown and seeing the Alley job and not knowing what I was seeing‎...to my working the shadow of what it once was...

Thanks,

Doug

Bob,

Thank you for the kind words. While I did put in scores of hours over several decades to put this bulletins' content together. It would not be what it is with out the hard work of the editors Charlie Vlk and Dave Lotz( I think there were a couple times Dave really wanted to hit me because of my insistence that certain things had to be included).

Finally I would point out that while the text and many of the visuals are from my collection it is the many, many visuals contributed by other members and historical societies that really filled out the articles. This is what our society is about, sharing our knowledge and resources for the greater good of all members and non members to keep the Burlington alive.

Leo

Ps- I have not forgotten the spins book !?

Congratulations Leo Phillipp on the wonderful package of stories in Bulletin #51. Outstanding! The society is indeed fortunate to have you as a member.
