Charlie

I must confess that I hadn’t thought of those but the query definitely relates to perhaps 1910.

Rupert

Remember that the ten leased then purchased National Tube Lamothe tubular box cars were painted black.  A little earlier than the question, but an example

Rupert,

I do remember a discussion about a model boxcar which seemed to have been painted black.  We'd call it a phoobie.   But I can't remember anything about a real Q car.

I’ve received a query regarding the colour of CB&Q box cars in the early 1900’s, as to whether they were painted anything other than mineral red. Apparently there was a reference “somewhere” to black box cars although I have no recollection of that being discussed on the List.

The only suggestion that comes to mind would be the hearse cars 10000-10005, where black might have been considered a more appropriate colour.  Any suggestions?
