I've been meaning to ask this question of the group for awhile. Looking at photos of the non-articulated Zephyr cars in various books, I see some with full width diaphragms and some with the narrow diaphragms. My particular interest is for my Oriental Limited 1948 8 car TCZ set, but I'm curious about all the Zephyr cars. I can't seem to discern any particular pattern. It does look like these cars came with FWDs when delivered, and perhaps this is true of other cars as well. So were some (or most) later converted to the narrower diaphragms?
