For you modelers out there, Mike Spoor recommended to me many years ago to use Highball brand ballast (it's real rock) with the light gray color being a good match for the slag ballast. I've used it on my own layout and I am happy with the color match. I was fortunate to see it in person on Mike's layout and it was like looking at one of the pictures Bill Barber posted.
