The BRHS Archives has an employee TT No. 68 effective Sunday, November 25, 1860, which is a part of the materials for a future Zephyr article.  This TT is prior to the Q's own line and shows the G&CU stations between Chicago & Junction then Batavia and Aurora.  It shows the line to Galesburg then to East Burlington and Quincy.  It also shows Quincy & Toledo trains between Quincy and Camp Point.

All-

A while back I started to develop an analysis of Chicago Division Station locations but unfortunately did not note the source for the data from the 1868 and 1874 timetables.

The recent eBay listing of a June 28, 1881 Suburban Timetable provides some good information.

The October 25, 1964 Employee TT No. 9 has “modern” mileages between Chicago Union Station and the post track elevation Aurora Station.   With enough input it should be possible to extrapolate the older stations / station names into modern context.   Some slight adjustment of station locations due to erection of new depots and conversion of the old to freight stations (Downers Grove, Naperville) might account for slight differences in MP citations.    Some Employee TTs from Leo Phillip provide more data.

Not sure if the MPs were adjusted for the new location of Chicago Union Station.   Fifth Avenue LaGrange should be an anchor point for comparison.   The Riverside station at the building of the mainline was located in the middle of the mains west of the location of the current and predecessor stations.   There was a station located in the Southwest quadrant of the CC&IC (Panhandle) grade level junction; the street Western Avenue is somewhat east (a block or two?) of that location and perhaps it was also “Western Avenue” prior to the track elevation of the Western Avenue yard and mainline in the vicinity.

Published distances between stations seem to vary a little for some reason.

If anyone has Employee Timetables, Pubic Timetables, or other material showing MP locations for Chicago-Aurora stations I would appreciate scans that are identified as to source…..I am developing a spreadsheet that will show published mileposts and will add a column converting them to modern MP for orientation.  Have C&A Timecard #4 for August 14, 1854,  January 1875 Official Guide, CB&Q June 28, 1881 Suburban TT, 1895 ETT #196, April 28, 1925 ETT #43, and October 25, 1964 ETT #9.
