Don't have any reference materials handy but might it have something to do with the building of the EJ&E line ?   The mileages for the station location might be different because of the depot location in Chicago at that time....IC lakefront.

The oldest Aurora Div ETT I have is 1895 and by then it's named Eola,33.5 miles from Union depot.

I seem to recall reading an article in the Beacon News many decades ago that Eola was the local Indian word for North Wind,which would certainly be appropriate for that location.

Presumably this became Eola.  Any ideas on when or why the change was made?
