Glen, That makes perfect sense, as the caption says this is right when the Vista dome TCZ was launched.

I have seen other photos with a 300 series observation (and pre-war diner) in the TCZ in late 1947, or perhaps very early 1948. If the photo is from that era, I think this was during the brief time that the vista-dome chair cars had been delivered, but the vista-dome parlors, new diners, and baggage-buffet cars had not.

Did anyone else notice on page 120 at the Rochelle diamonds, the TCZ is carrying what appears to be a 300 series flat top obs running backwards? Probably filling in as the Tavern car. I've seen this in later years, but this is in the late forties!
