I made a pretty stupid statement at the end of my compilation of Q locomotives leased to the western subsidiaries when I posted it a couple of weeks ago -- to the effect that the Jan. 1, 1954 assignment sheet was the last one to show such leased power. That's a pretty embarrassing thing for me to say, considering that my first locomotive photos were taken in October 1958 of Q O-1-As 4952 and 4978 on lease to the C&S. And most of the remaining members of the O-4 class were leased to the FW&D in the mid-1950s, remaining there until six of them were purchased by the C&S in June 1957. So I've amended the listing and I'm attaching it again, with one or two other errors corrected, too. I might note that Q 6108, shown leased to the C&S on the November and December 1944 assignment sheets, is listed as an M-2-A, though it falls in the midst of the 26 M-2s, 6100-6125. The 6108 and sister 6109 were delivered by Baldwin in 1914 experimentally outfitted with all the features of the subsequent M-2-A class, and in 1915 the Burlington officially reclassed them as M-2-As when the first order for engines of that class was delivered..
