Here are shots of three more R-4 and R-5 Prairies known to have been outfitted with pilot air pumps for work train service. I have not seen photos of any others like the 2026 with its twin single lungers on the smokebox front. The first of these three was photographed at Ashland, Neb., in 1942, so clearly there was a Lines West engine so equipped. The other two are at Streator, Ill., in 1945 and Red Oak, Iowa, in 1946, indicating that there may have been more than one engine so equipped on Lines East in the immediate post-WWII era. Hol
