No one car was assigned to the run, and cars were regularly rotated in and out of the consists of both 29-30 and 42-43.  Both SSS and standard "black" (actually olive green) cars of the 4500 and 6100 series were employed on these trains.

Classic Trains did an article on the Q/C&S trains 29 & 30 with photos of a SSS car on the rear.  Does anyone happen to know what car number was 'usually" used? John Trulson
