Gents,
The "Gothic' refers to the early steel Pullman cars, where they had the glass panels above the windows. A few years later, this was dropped. Betterment means a steel Pullman where usually means 'arch' roof, double bedrooms, 'modern' colours painting over the faux bois interior walls, A/C sometimes full width diaphrams, and some other things.
