I anyone is interested...ATSF
brass.

The
point of this message is that I know several railroad historical societies
that do not advertise regularly in their publications etc. that they will
help relatives dispose of the deceased loved ones toys, books, and other
railroadania. The tax write off can benefit the relatives and the income, or
in this case part of the income, can benefit the society. To be successful,
this message needs to be repeated over and over again and then again in
publications, at meetings and conventions, and one on one at shows with
current and prospective members. Send each member a form to fill out and give
to their relatives the desire and the process. It could be included when you
mail calendars and renewal forms etc and handed out at shows and
meetings.
Then, of further interest to me is the contents of the message.
The passenger and freight car "minimum bid amounts" are awful close to
original retail. I don't know anything about the steam and diesel
locomotives. That tells me those boxes of "gold" engines in the basement may
not be worth what I paid for them in a couple more years. That said, when I
get my test track/layout up again I think I will get them all out and play
with them even though they may not be painted or have decoders installed. I
originally bought each of them to play with not sit in a display case to get
dusty or in a closet as an investment.
Check this out.
