Is this a Q or ex-B&MR wood combine?

The end facing the viewer is enclosed, but the far end facing the coach is open with platform. The car has a baggage door. The image is undated, but was taken at the Q depot in Hastings, NE.

It looks like flags are placed in the marker light brackets. Plus, could that be an extended air hose with whistle coming up under the coupler for backing over grade crossing?

If so, could that must be a bar across the rear door opening to keep the trainman from falling out when whistling. Interesting old photograph. Best Regards - Louis
