it was the 710 from Lincoln NE fro cosmetic rebuild. it was done by Shop Services at the Midwest  Central Railroad facilities there in Mt Pleasant. Shop Service was owned by Stan Mathews and they did all kinds of work on there own equipment and they the did work for several other Railroads in repairing the parts ship into them. I am not sure but i believe i was told that Stan invented the gun that is used by most steam crews today to grease the locomotive. if this not true then he had something to do with the gun. the also built from the frame up the locomotive that was at Micheal Jackson ranch.

The 710 is now resting in peace  in front of what was the Lincoln, NE passenger srtaion, now known as "Lincoln Station"...completely surrounded by hotels and a muli million $ arena...You would never know that there was once a raiload yard there...The area where he engine sits is known as "Canopy Street.  One of the new nightclubs is named  "RULE G"

Does anyone remember an eastbound move of a 700-series CB&Q steam engine on a 6x-tire dolly, frome somewhere in NE to Mount Pleasant, Iowa, on US34,  for shopping, several decades ago. I never heard anything about it after that, but did get a couple snaps of it in Osceola.
