Hello,

We just got news from the Printers that two new books are in the final stages and will be out in the next week or two that are such that they work for any modeler in any scale or gauge combination.

First is a book on Scratchbuilding. While this is not an earth shattering subject normally, it was the author’s first structure built without the use of commercial plans or a kit. In the process he discussed and applied techniques he had learned and ran them past a number of modelers with experience in the hundreds of years. The author was then able to distill this knowledge and all of the different techniques into ones that are easy and can make sense for someone just wanting to try their hand at Scratchbuilding on through those who have done some but want to expand their skills.

No matter what road or gauge railroad one models, few are the roads that have kits for all of the structures we would want to feature.

The book starts with how and where to research, covers how to draw plans from a photograph for N-O scale, contains many tables and methods to put it all into a non-technical way, and wraps it all together into the final structure that has some distinctive features not seen on others.

It is the lead book in our Mastering Model Railroading series section on Modeling the Prototype as the author chose an 1800’s structure that no longer exists and goes through the entire process.

As with all of our books in the MMR series, this one has a list MSRP of $19.99

The webpage for it is here and the ordering button is live though the book will not ship until back from the Printers later this month.

And the rest of the MMR series can be seen starting from here:

Now for something that is a bit more unusual. We were able to obtain and restore an original Pennsylvania Railroad Dining Department Cookbook and Instructions for Dining Car Service

It has 110 pages full of recipes, serving instructions, and seasonal modifications. The Pennsylvania Railroad Dining Cars were known worldwide for their level of high quality food ranging from American Pancakes through high French cuisine and this has the entire range. It covers the entire meal service from soups and appetizers through desserts.

In making the webpage, I made sure that the index pages were a lot larger than normal so they should be readable.

MSRP is $34.99 + s&h

thanks for your time.
