Not just huge articulateds made their way over the Q to participate in the Chicago Railroad Fair. Here we find the GN's diminutive William Crooks in 1948 with two "pioneer" coaches in the hole at the Oregon, IL, depot to take water while the Twin Cities Zephyr holds the main.

The Zephyr's shovelnose diesel is lettered for the Denver Zephyr, but in this image is mated with an E5B unit for powering the Chicago-St. Paul daily passenger train. Looks like there was a good size crowd on hand to greet the William Crooks and its historic train. Best Regards - Louis
