Not too long ago there was a thread about when the first blackbird was delivered. While reading RPC Volume 2, I noticed the captions on two CB&Q SW-1 switchers. The first one was 9136 from series 9136-9140 delivered in 1939 in solid black paint with BURLINGTON in railroad gothic on the sides of the hood and the herald and road number on the sides of the cab. The second photo was of SW-1 9141 from series 9141-9147 delivered in July 1940, and it was the first switcher to be delivered in the blackbird paint scheme. Both photos are quite sharp, and invaluable for modeling these early SW-1 switchers. Nelson Moyer |
