Add Grover and Haxtun, Colo., both museums. Images of Grover attached. And don't forget Lodge Grass, Mont., preserved at Hardin. Image also attached. Hol To: cbq@yahoogroups.com From: randy@prototrains.com Date: Mon, 24 Feb 2014 19:08:12 -0600 Subject: [CBQ] Surviving saltboxes? [1 Attachment] All, I currently only know of four surviving saltboxes, of which I have only personally seen one. The first two follow the basic 20x40 plan: Ithaca, NE: (my photo from Dec. 2013 attached, being used as a storage building) Danbury, NE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Danbury,_Nebraska_depot_museum.JPG The next two are enlarged from the basic 20x40 plan: Atwood, KS: http://el-camino-real.smugmug.com/Railroad-Depots/Kansas-Depots/i-V7T5H83/A Oberlin, KS: http://www.pbase.com/nmsandrail/image/141523150/original Please add any more examples you know of. (I am aware of Steve Holding's list at http://burlingtonroute.com/docs/rosters/remain_structures.html but it doesn't distinguish between designs of wood depots.) Thank you, Randy -- Randy Gordon-Gilmore http://www.prototrains.com randy@prototrains.com
