I remember when the BRHS Fall Meet was in Lincoln after the BNSF merger that a number of us had the chance to tour the shops at Havelock. The person hosting the tour told us that they planned to use up all the BN green paint on hand before switching over to the new standard colors.

Paint shops not following instructions still occurs from time to time.  Please see the picture of a Cascade Green BNSF covered hopper taken at Maiden Rock, WI in 2012.  Understand Havelock was using up the paint (in true frugal CB&Q tradition ) before starting to use the BNSF Mineral Red.
