More likely one was a second section to the other, dispatcher's option which one lead to parade. They also each had their own train number (same as home road GN or NP). On Saturday, November 30, 2013 2:04 PM, "mytrainstuff@gmail.com" <mytrainstuff@gmail.com> wrote: Some weeks ago, I asked how two separate trains could run on the same schedule and not be running as sections. No answer. I've located my 1935 Q schedule which shows the NCL out of Chicago at 10:30 PM and the EB out at 10:45, but then they are out of Aurora at the same time, 11:20. They run that way to St Paul where the NCL arrived 5 minutes before the EB at 8:20 AM. My question is still the same: how do they run on the same schedule from Aurora to St Paul? Were they combined at Aurora and then separated outside St Paul? Thanks. Bernie Lyngdal
