I’m trying to establish when heater coils were added to a group of a dozen 12,000 gallon tank cars that the Burlington purchased in 1906 from AC&F.  They were initially numbered 205737-205748 and allocated class TM-2, then renumbered to 150110-150121 in 1927 and 203110-230121 in 1938.

These cars did not have heater coils when they were built.  However, the 1956 Diagram Book shows that at least some of these cars (although no longer in service) had had their heater coils removed. So when were the coils fitted and when were they removed? The 1930 Diagram Book shows that some tank cars had coils but not these, and by 1946, only one car remained and that was without coils.

Does anyone have an Ownership, Age and Condition Report prior to 1946  or other documentation that would assist?

Thanks

Rupert Gamlen
