Although difficult to believe, the depot described is (as I understand it), a CB&Q (actually CB&N?) structure -- and did at one time see regularly-scheduled passenger train service (although I would certianly like to see a timetable showing same). The depot apparently saw "passenger" service in the form of a bus, operated by/for the railroad to/from East Dubuque. The building was rebuilt into a boxy-looking thing and rebuilt back into "like new" condition. Apparently, prior to bringing the Vista-Dome TWIN CITIES ZEPHYRs into service, a train set of equipment was on public display at the CB&Q depot in Dubuque. Although lacking some of the depth I would have liked, may I suggest obtaining the Arcadia Press book "Railroads of Dubuque?" The web address is: http://www.arcadiapublishing.com/9780738539577/Railroads-of-Dubuque It is interesting that of the four railroads serving Dubuque (CB&Q,CGW, IC and MILW) -- the only surviving depot is that of the "least" (at least in the form of visible presence) of the four railroads in town.
