Thanks for all the comments on Belmont. I have a newspaper report contemporaneous with the completion of the tunnel that refers to trains reversing the length of the finished track, so there does not appear to have been a turntable or wye prior to the track to Crawford being completed. The Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley crossed the B&MR at Crawford, and a wye was created there at some stage. The topography of Belmont is comparatively hilly (and hence the reason for the tunnel) with the yard being positioned between two hills.
