I just finished The Johnstown flood. If you want another reason to read the book there are very good descriptions of how the PRR was operating between. Pitts and Altoona, along with how T&E crews stayed on duty when things went bad. A couple crew members died in the flood because they were sleeping in a caboose after being on duty for an extreme period of time and stopped on the mainline for hours.
